The journey through life can't be taken alone. It is a pathway that includes learning experiences, accomplishments, trials, and joys. Most of the life skills require teaching. This is especially true of "life navigational skills." In certain aspects of life, doing what comes natural is not beneficial to oneself or society. Plus, there is not enough time for "trial and error" learning.
Knowledge and wisdom has to be passed along to each succeeding generation. " And each generation builds upon those experiences. The difficulty is in discovering the "how?" Fortunately gifted bio-dynamics and metaphysics have been the same through out history. Evidence is in the cave drawings; or refrigerator art. Though technically not perfect, there is a connective quality that transmits the thoughts of the artist to the viewer.
Depending upon the definition, "education" should address both the understanding of knowledge, and the understanding of the body/mind/spirit that is doing all this understanding. Holistic results require a holistic approach.
Seeking depths and connection is not the same as technical mastery. It is the older generation that often has attained this type of wisdom. It is evident in the peaceful, deep, clear, countenance of their state of being. This is partially because seeking depths of understanding has the joy and hope for more discovery into both their being, and the universe around them. The connection and connective properties create a self-identity based upon real life circumstances.
When positively reinforcing behavior it is important to reinforce that the energy/creativity comes from within ourselves. Self identity and self worth need to be created; and not just levels of performance. The simple teaching methods are very important for this. Gifted performance is not technical perfection. Gifted performance is the use of the creative energy and life forces that have been created within us. Therefore the connective and expressive dynamics of giftedness can occur at every level of technical ability (refrigerator art.) Everything is good; and worthy of positive comment because it was created by their own, individual, effort/being. The trap of "false praise and low expectations" is to be avoided.
