Drugs, Phones, and the Human Meataphysical Appetite
Part 1: "The Situation": As humans we have an innate appetite for those things that take us beyond
typical "physical existence;" and bring us into another "place."
typical "physical existence;" and bring us into another "place."
There is always "more."
Human needs go beyond food, warmth, and shelter. We actually need/require "time off" to dwell in places other than the physical basics of life.Enjoyment, pleasure, self-actualization, awareness are a substantial part of our yearnings. The identity of "belonging" to a group is part of establishing who you are; that you exist in a way other than mere physical presence. "Brand name" as well as activities pursued indicate that there is no one size or place that fits all. The places to go to are countless. We need to experience these aspects of the metaphysical part of existence in some way or another.
Love, Arts, Sports, Recreation, Hobbies, Group Associations, and Spirituality are typical refreshing endeavors. There is a non-physical element to these activities that satisfy a human metaphysical craving. Extremes are characterized by the "workaholic," "drug dependent," "internet/phone consumed," and countless other extremes. As humans we have the ability to go too far in consumption of anything.Of importance is that fear, anger, and hate can become consuming to the point of becoming an overwhelming dwelling place of metaphysical satisfaction.
However it is important to realize that even with participation is various "endeavors" there is still the quest for "more", "deeper", "greater heights", and higher realms of performance. The physical realm also includes technical plateaus. Associated is the amount of time available for pursuit of satisfaction. Somewhat related is the physical limitations to health, well-being, and future performance.
Investing in "places of substance" yield greater rewards and reinforcement in the future. "What goes around, comes around" is the "Reap what you sow" principle. Cautionary advice is to be certain of planting at least a few good seeds today that will bring in good results in the future. The multiplication effect of the seed planting harvests/results is both positive hope and metaphysical/physical rewards. "Personal Empowerment" is obtained via experiencing the physical effort taken with its own metaphysical ramifications.
There are physical limitations. There are technical limitations. Also, the "80/20" rule is in effect. It takes another 80% of effort to obtain the final 20% of results. This grueling test of endurance does not usually fall into the realm of the metaphysical enjoyment and respite from the physical realm that we are seeking. And even those who obtain mastery of the technical realize that there is "more" as their progress begins to plateau. This is where the "magic" of the connective properties of the metaphysical realm open the endless realm of metaphysical heights and widths. "Being in the zone" is part of this realm that removes the time element of the physical realm and introduces another "place of being." This is also what "love" is about.
What some may define as an "escape," others define as "excellence." Agreement occurs in that it is beyond "typical."
Applying the bio-dynamics that connect to the metaphysics enhances performance and activities as they currently exist. The connective and "magical" properties can be applied to any level of technical expertise. The feedback and life enhancing properties will be created because it is not dependent on technical/physical excellence. (Love is a perfect example.) It must be remembered that these are two separate realms.

Part 2: Developing Innate Metaphysical Aspects Into Productive Daily Living
There is a metaphysical yearning innate to human, as well as animal life. Interaction, types of a bonding, with others is the most common. At the moment there are huge flocks of geese in the field next door; my wife is reading in the next room; I'm enjoying sharing by typing on my computer; the cat and I were sitting in front of the wood stove enjoying the warmth together; yesterday found an old, favorite CD.
Love and being in the zone are also metaphysical/spiritual. Spiritual dimensions are also metaphysical. So is intoxication and other various drug use of hallucinogens/mind altering. The intoxicating effect of power, emotions, and all the various mechanisms by which we can be "driven" include the "workaholic."
In addition, some of my discoveries involve the connection of the physical to the meta physical via the physical process of breathing. It turns out that from almost the beginning of time cultures throughout the world have used this breath connection as a foundation of their spiritual/metaphysical interests.
In some way or another the metaphysical cravings need to be satiated.
The current "opioid epidemic" is typical of the power of the metaphysical becoming physical as well. One of the dilemma's is that the drug use also provides a social connection and bonding which is also craved. (Related is a prison inmate who said that prison life didn't bother him because at least he had friends there. This is a part of the culture that we don't understand.) Our culture is losing the family and personal connections that used to have sustained us. Loneliness and loss of self identity are two of the ramifications. "Friends" are becoming internet friends; conversation is via sterile texting with little pictures attempting to humanize with emotion. The safety of the limited engagement/commitment of the cell phone is difficult to deny those who live in an angry and self absorbed world.
The rewards of hobbies and recreational activities and artistic pursuits that also have self-reinforcement are a fulfillment that is a deterrent to succumbing to harmful methods of human metaphysical reinforcements. This is an area where the creative and self awareness techniques of innate breath rhythms produce authentic self awareness and reinforcement regardless of the technical ability of the individual. The use of the natural breath rhythms as part of an individuals natural creative and loving and moving processes is a simple method to instill a working self identity, awareness, and means of functioning. Holistically, "power/control/beauty are holistically intertwined.
Alternate forms of reinforcement and relief are needed.
To be continued.
