The Error in Giving a 110% Effort.
GIVING 110% vs. ONENESS
* It sounds good to give 110%, especially as a motivational tool.
* Being more specific targets the expenditure of effort.
* Takes away the the uncertainty of just hoping; a doubt that could also lead to failure.
* Oneness brings more metaphysical aspects into play; especially a unique timing.
Giving 110% is often used to urge on to maximum physical effort and then going deeper within oneself to metaphysically maximize all dimensions of performance that a human being has to offer. However, an element of desperation is also the hope that perhaps something will work. Giving 110% and hoping something will "stick" is not the reliable, or consistent, or time/effort managing response. Obviously a 50/50 effort leads a lot to be desired.
"This is your big opportunity." "Give it your all." "Now or never." "Do it for the coach, family, country, etc."
"This is no way out." And other sorts of inspirational phrases are used to urge to maximum effort. Fear is also a good motivator.
The result is the confidence that you gave everything possible. In a sense therefore blameless for failure. Yet there is a tinge of doubt.
Reality dictates that appropriateness, technical considerations, and even timing are factors for success. There even exists the possibility that a maximum all inclusive effort may actually prevent success. The "more power" or "more money"
remedies are examples where overwhelming does not guarantee success.
The "Power of the Hidden Power" implies that operating at less than 110% has a calm, stress free air about it that is about being controlled and backed up.
