This page is a series of life navigational skills, and performance principles that are fundamental to beinggifted.com. Presented are principles useful in daily living, work, pursuit of activities, and parenting and leadership.
Current events at this particular moment provide a unique opportunity to observe the both the private life and workings of a master of the "alpha dog" persona. It is fortunate that both the media and internet gives us otherwise unobtainable, personal access and information.
Personal contact with masters is very difficult to obtain. For several reasons it is rare. My good fortune was to have several masters mentor me. They have a different approach to life. Technical excellence is a reflection of who they are; they just "do." As they develop themselves, or create themselves, the technical expression is the by-product. Therefore they usually have the option to choose the areas in which they desire to express themselves. Unique is that planning and metaphysical and psychological aspects of life are considered as primary. In a balanced, complete, and holistic approach there are no weak links that produce unintended limitations. There is a huge difference between the fulfillment nature of the complex control of the "alpha dog;" vs. the power seeking individual; vs. the celebrity status seeker; or the technical excellence driven person.
Although "Trumpster" is used as part of the title, principles are revealed via many sources. Current events as well as proven historical figures are featured. "Contemporary figures/events" create more interaction. Fortunately with the internet and media so we can easily have access to a host of usually unobtainable, personal illustrations.
(beinggifted.com Facebook used performance and "alpha dog" principles in a weekly commentary on the success of the "Dancing With The Stars" television show. The Pros and judges, as well as producer, use extremely effective life navigational and performance skills.)
Drawbacks/hazards are also presented. One issue is that in human nature, power corrupts. The totality of alpha dog control and stress factors of the high performing elite indicate the requirement of going to the metaphysical/spirituality portion of life in areas besides "thinking." A contemporary example is that many of the contemporary top world leaders have utilized the same, personal, spiritual advisor of a Pastor named Billy Graham. This includes the top Russian leaders of the past as well.
There are a lot of warfare leaders/tactics used by "alpha dog" types. Historical tactics still work in modern times. Time tested, no "reset" option, and diversity of cultural applications are still synonymous with today's current events. Multi-dimensional tactics are the norm for success.
The posts are numbered when posted in the beinggifted.com Facebook page. To make the posts easy to locate, a photo of mine from "back-in-the-day" is used as the post photo.

Post 1:We can all benefit from learning additional "life navigation skills;" or at least being knowledgeable of them. This series of posts is to be educational in that the pitfalls of behavior will also be presented. Current events will be used as examples to help relate to the topics.
Agree with it or not; a huge life strategy, learning opportunity can be accessed via "the Trumpster," a genuine "alpha dog." Using "Control" that is uncomprehensible, he seemingly came out of nowhere to instantly become the most powerful person on the planet Earth. Or, has a strategy that comprehended opportunities and weaknesses to be taken advantage of when the moment was available.
And then prepared for it.
Keep in mind that "power corrupts, absolute power absolutely corrupts." Control/planning/strategy is good; but life doesn't always respond the way you may anticipate. (There are navigational skills to be presented for this reality.)
For example, "The Trumpster" throws the right type of candy on the ground for the kids to fight over as he goes on to win the game. At what other consequences?!
Winning is not the benchmark as there is only one winner. However the training to win, and the "life navigation skills" acquired is what matters.
(Facebook posts will be used in a similar way as beinggifted.com posted for analyzing training bio-dynamics/metaphysics predicting winners in Dancing With the Stars past seasons. A dedicated page on beinggifted.com website titled "Trumpster Navigation" will also be available.
The thumbnail photo of me "back-in-the-day" will be used to make the numbered posts easy to locate.) (Original post was edited and the photo didn't appear with the first post.)

Life Navigation Post 2: The harsh reality is that some types of people attack the children to get at the adults. Even for jealousy. Protecting the family is an important consideration; and even is a risk factor that has to be included in decision making.
However, there are limitations to protection so education of the tactics and why such cruelty is being used allows a "re-framing" of the situation for the kids/family. There needs to be a sense of closure for effective responses in the mental/psychological realm. Revenge and paybacks don't produce closure; physically or mentally.
"If you stop to throw rocks at every barking dog; you will never arrive at your destination." Winston Churchhill.
In the beinggifted.com website many possible re-framings are offered. Anti bullying, intimidation pages, etc. are there. This info is from a lifetime of successful, real life mentoring.
President Clinton immediately made it publicly known that his daughter was "off limits" for press/media ridicule. One guy tested him and the President went after him. "Trumpster" likewise.
There has to be a separation between family life and public/work life for many reasons.

Life Navigation Part 3: "Aplha dog" types know where they are going, are focused on that decision, and also know where they are not going. The ability to make a decision that involves a certain action is not going to take them closer to their goals is easy for them. A no-brainer. Contentment. Planning also identifies opportunity when it arises. This will take me closer to my goal.
"Life navigation" skills are tactics that promote a "plan"; a destination in life. Goals are part of this. However a plan and tactics create motivation that is more substantial. Essential is a sequential "Plan A, Plan B, Plan C" Mentality because life does not always proceed as "planned." Not only does this provide a smooth and instantaneous transition to stay in-sync with the current reality; but allows the nuances gained via the planning process to be accessed.
Both planning/control, and the ability to go-with-the flow, are required. Plans also allow for pre-planning response options so current and future goals will be considered. As well as considering consequences, finances, ethics, moral, and legal consequences. This prevents split second decisions in the stress/heat of the moment that are not in harmony with the totality of one's life.
When split seconds matter; there is not time to pause and think a minute about it.
Plus consequences can be endured because the decision was made beforehand. (Also part of the bullying program on beinggifted.com. A life goal planning/navigational text will be available soon too.)
(A young boy student of mine interfered with a school bully interactions with one of his classmates knowing that he would be expelled under the "zero tolerance" policy. My take is that understanding the consequences was an integral part of his self-sacrificial, bravery decision. His statement of that fact to the school principal created such a stir among parents and teachers that the Principal could not expel him. He later became a Marine.)

Life Navigation Post 4: One of the traits that sets the alpha dog apart is the completeness of their multi-dimensional life. A working knowledge of the multitude of dimensions, but compartmentalized, creates simultaneous engagements: with separate results: that reinforce each other to obtain an overall goal. One of which is a more complete, working, fulfillment. The knowledge of the nuances of dimensions prevents being manipulated via them.
For example: Understanding that love; compassion; pity; friendship; acquaintances; and sex are are entirely different. Rewards, returns; limitations; expectations; etc. are not to be confused. but need to be individually and appropriately fulfilled for completeness. The alpha dog can't have the distraction of an un-fulfillment of a "need." Or the potential for being manipulated by it.
An alpha dog, simultaneous multidimensional tactic: A "diversion loss" of "one step back, three steps forward" will be used in an hot-button issue ; simultaneously a consuming ploy where "pity being mistaken for love" misdirects attention in another.
A single dimension adversary can't respond to the concealed, real activity that is desired/pursued because they are now fulfilled by self- congratulations and also emotionally massaged via two "fulfilling diversions" having been created for them. The side bonus is that the misplacement of rewards will create easier, future manipulations because the hunger for the real thing has not been satiated; and even more increased. Our doom is that we then try even harder.
Beware of the consequences of the one dimensional. "easy win."
Life Navigation Post 5: This comment perfectly explains some of the simultaneous, multi-dimensions of an "alpha dog" referred to in previous posts. A good warning/heads up. Perfect example why using current events of the "Trumpster" adds to the learning experience. (Thanks Rick Hamilton.)
From Heather Richardson, professor of History at Boston College:
"I don't like to talk about politics on Facebook-- political history is my job, after all, and you are my friends-- but there is an important non-partisan point to make today.
What Bannon is doing, most dramatically with last night's ban on immigration from seven predominantly Muslim countries-- is creating what is known as a "shock event."
Such an event is unexpected and confusing and throws a society into chaos. People scramble to react to the event, usually along some fault line that those responsible for the event can widen by claiming that they alone know how to restore order.
When opponents speak out, the authors of the shock event call them enemies. As society reels and tempers run high, those responsible for the shock event perform a sleight of hand to achieve their real goal, a goal they know to be hugely unpopular, but from which everyone has been distracted as they fight over the initial event. There is no longer concerted opposition to the real goal; opposition divides along the partisan lines established by the shock event.
Last night's Executive Order has all the hallmarks of a shock event. It was not reviewed by any governmental agencies or lawyers before it was released, and counterterrorism experts insist they did not ask for it. People charged with enforcing it got no instructions about how to do so. Courts immediately have declared parts of it unconstitutional, but border police in some airports are refusing to stop enforcing it.
Predictably, chaos has followed and tempers are hot.
My point today is this: unless you are the person setting it up, it is in no one's interest to play the shock event game. It is designed explicitly to divide people who might otherwise come together so they cannot stand against something its authors think they won't like.
I don't know what Bannon is up to-- although I have some guesses-- but because I know Bannon's ideas well, I am positive that there is not a single person whom I consider a friend on either side of the aisle-- and my friends range pretty widely-- who will benefit from whatever it is.
If the shock event strategy works, though, many of you will blame each other, rather than Bannon, for the fallout. And the country will have been tricked into accepting their real goal.
But because shock events destabilize a society, they can also be used positively. We do not have to respond along old fault lines. We could just as easily reorganize into a different pattern that threatens the people who sparked the event.
A successful shock event depends on speed and chaos because it requires knee-jerk reactions so that people divide along established lines. This, for example, is how Confederate leaders railroaded the initial southern states out of the Union.
If people realize they are being played, though, they can reach across old lines and reorganize to challenge the leaders who are pulling the strings. This was Lincoln's strategy when he joined together Whigs, Democrats, Free-Soilers, anti-Nebraska voters, and nativists into the new Republican Party to stand against the Slave Power.
Five years before, such a coalition would have been unimaginable. Members of those groups agreed on very little other than that they wanted all Americans to have equal economic opportunity. Once they began to work together to promote a fair economic system, though, they found much common ground. They ended up rededicating the nation to a "government of the people, by the people, and for the people."
Confederate leaders and Lincoln both knew about the political potential of a shock event. As we are in the midst of one, it seems worth noting that Lincoln seemed to have the better idea about how to use it."

Life Navigation Post 6: "Alpha dog" life navigation is not only about acquiring Wealth; although it can be used for it. the same goes for acquiring Power. Wealth has its bad consequences; as does Power in that "power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely."
However knowing how to purposely manipulate via human desire for power and/or wealth is one of the dimensions that alpha dogs dwell in. Giving someone wealth or power is a dependable way to destroy adversaries. The offer of future wealth/power is a typical manipulation technique. ("This position/house/business will be yours if you stay around under these usually unfair conditions is typical.)
My take is that the alpha dog foundation is more "Survival" oriented. This is for both the Present and the Future. (Note that time tested principles are by great leaders who had to win battles. What sounds logical may be easily defeated, used against you, or have bad consequences. This is why cross cultural studies are important for most of us. It is an easy avenue to more dimensions. Notice that the "Trumpster" is appointing top military leaders to leadership positions for a wide range of departments. They dwell and make decisions where losing means death. Clever, unsubstantiated doctrines are not for them. These guys constantly study history. There is a huge difference between preparing/tactics to win a game vs. winning a war. Thjere are no reset buttons and a loss means loss of your life, and others.)
There are plenty of "alpha dogs" out there, both male and female that are functioning in contemporary society. Most are not even noticeable because drawing attention to oneself leads to jealousy, being eliminated as a threat, or other targeted activity. Law abiding is the norm because there also is the Law of reaping and sowing; or what goes around comes around. Inappropriate behavior has consequences that can't be foreseen. Which means a loss of control.
Life in the chaos, jealousy, bullying, and other life navigation techniques are in the content of www.beinggifted.com. These are excellent real life preparation issues for parenting, education, and home schooling as well.)

Life Navigation Post 7: Using current events, this commentary (added below) by Wayne White, the formerly not revealed high level government official that was the only dissent in entering into the Arab/Middle Eastern Conflict, Assistant State Deputy in the Middle East for years, illustrates the wisdom of seeking those who are real life experience knowledgeable in conflict, government, human relationships, and history of the cultures involved.
Anecdotal, 2nd hand knowledge (especially from/interpreted by the "media") does not compare to the depths and dimensions of wisdom gained from a lifetime of required for greatness, first hand experience.
The credibility of information, including motivations of sources, are vital to forming proper decisions and opinions.
Thanks Wayne White for the valued info (also is a friend from Upper Moreland High School.)
The Commentary from his post:
"Some comments of mine in this on several angles to keep in mind about Rex Tillerson taking the helm at the State Dept. Based on past experience, SecState's who were not already running quite a bit of foreign policy from the NSC (Kissinger, Rice), not having chummy relations with the new president (Jim Baker, Rice), or not having held prior powerful cabinet positions (Baker, Shultz), typically were the most likely to be bypassed, overshadowed, etc. by the White House and/or other cabinet players. This is especially worthy of concern with an extraordinarily self-driven, volatile president like Trump surrounded by a small group of political powerhouses such as Steve Bannon & strong-willed military types like Flynn & Mattis.
(Also commented) Frankly, in many ways, Tillerson's credentials are not all that far more impressive than some of our "political" ambassadors to Saudi Arabia following Riyadh's rejection of career officers in the early 1990's. Several have had weighty business/finance backgrounds. Unless he surprises us with unexpectedly fomidable gravitas vis-a-vis Trump personally not yet apparent, his department itself will put him at odds with Trump's tendency to break china all around the globe with Tillerson quickly realizing the resultant head aches & legal complications he is supposed to clean up are burdensome & put him at odds with Trump."

Life Navigation Post 8: Last night's Current Events of Super Bowl 51 has a lot of life navigation illustrations. Survival/success is multi-dimensional.
1. Never underestimate the preparation/conditioning of the alpha dog. The dimensions in which they are prepared to perform is one of their advantages. Adaptability, Never weak links.
2. Temporary overwhelming is expected, especially when facing extremely motivated opposition. The long run, the finish is what determines the winner/survivor. "One step back; three steps forward" Sun Tsu, military and life strategist.
3. The ability to have alternative tactics is vital. More diverse coaching/counselors equals more alternatives. The half time adjustments created by talented staff obviously worked. Plan A, Plan B, Plan C continuation is anticipated and prepared for. When split seconds count, there is not time to take a minute to think about it.
(When I was at Penn State during the late 60's to 70's their championship level undefeated teams would come out after half time and then take control of the game back from super psyched opponents. A punter of 50 yd.plus punts was an essential part of the tactics/success created by the coaching staff. They created tactics.)
4. Mistakes and errors are part of the game. "Fear" created by an emphasis on perfection is one of the biggest deterrents to success and motivation. (This is a huge area addressed in my life/performance coaching. Some "content" on beinggifted.com website.) It also creates an atmosphere where people are afraid to extend themselves and take risks. Such hesitation creates a non-engaged low performance. Never oneness or being-in-the-zone.
"Oh well" is a powerful tool for effective "closure."
(I had the opportunity to be mentored by Adam Martini; a traditionally trained master woodworker from Germany while doing wood finishing and maintainance at Nakashima Woodworkers. One of his valued comments was that he was never in fear of making mistakes because he knew how to remedy them. He was the wise, congenial master and alpha dog of the shop. Despite not being the "foreman." Adam was valued in adding dimensions and wisdom to my being.)

Life Navigation Post 9: Current events had a top level government official "fired" after just three weeks in office. In certain areas, and for certain positions, there is no tolerance for error by the "alpha dog.".
It is all about various levels of control, dependability.
Treated differently and with different expectations are the many layers/circles of people surrounding the "alpha dog" types. The innermost cadre are highly trusted because of the delegation of power/responsibility given to them. The coordinated unit has no breakdown of trust.
When someone has your back; 100% performance is required.
However, the caution for us folks is that there are also the outermost layers where expectations and trust are not required. Integrity not valued or even desired. These are the "dogs"; the "throwaways." Used for a purpose until no longer needed, used up, or a liability. Like a Kleenex tissue, then discarded.
"Alpha dog wanna be's" exist at every level of society and prey on the needy or those that are starving for attention. One tactic includes purposely separating a potential "dog" from their real family, and indoctrinating into the "dog pack family." All types of promises related to inclusion are made. Not intending to be kept.
In this multi-dimensional approach both concepts:
"Ends justify means" and "Ends do not justify means" are used.

Life Navigation Post 10: "Timing" is supposed to be everything. Alpha dogs are all about "control." This includes "timing" is everything. Current events illustrate immediately switching to a new approach when something is not working. The "timing" is off. Or it could not be in-sync for a legal issue, ethics, or the wrong way to go at this particular time. Forcing an issue/decision is often the indication of also being out of rhythm. Also a waste of time. This is where a "oneness" or being-in-the-zone becomes mandatory. Action/reaction is too slow; and actually a bit out of the epitome of timing.
As situations change; it is advantageous to be-in-time, part of, what is actually happening; and not dwelling in the past.
There is a sense of ease to "masters" of timing.
www.beinggifted.com teaches the complexities of "oneness" as fundamental.
If you want to go "beyond yourself;" you have to seek "beyond yourself."

Life Navigation Post 11: Its "about winning"; but not "about winning."
"There is only one winner; but the real essence for the individual is the training/preparation/strategy/mindset of the realities that it takes to "win."
Training/working with "false premises and logic" gives a confidence that leads to defeat/destruction as real life competition and the test of time is applied.
For example sports training is for sports; with limited engagement, defined rules, etiquette, and games that end and the starting over with a new game. There are good things learned with sport training that are difficult to learn otherwise; and in a safe environment with little lasting consequences. However the distinction between sports and life must be kept in mind.
Life training and life navigation is ultimately about long term success and survival. There is no reset button. Although there are "closure" techniques. The dimensions are unlimited. Laws/rules are viable only when followed. Other instincts can take over.
The watchful danger saying about "assumption" beginning with a certain 3 letters is "true."
The integrity of "Truths" need to be acquired; cultural "laws" have to be understood as not "truths".

Life Navigation Post 12: "Winning" at cost of integrity leads to a "hollow victory" in sports; and the ultimate destruction of oneself's self-esteem in life. A "hollow victory" produces or enables the rationalization that the title is more important than principles that the title represents/defines. The expectations that create a certain title ultimately have to be met. Then the "winner" becomes a "loser."
When put to the test of the responsibilities/performance required to live up to the title; the expertise is not there. Failure/doom results. What is worse is that the extent of trying to maintain the "title" usually leads to an abundance of desperate attempts at further manipulation; ignoring of rules; breaking of truths.
There is the truth called the seed principle of "sowing and reaping." The "seed" produces multiples of what it is.
The good news is that there are also closure techniques; and means of turning the bad things into "good."
Although "integrity" produces more benefits of integrity; it also produces anger and resentment among those who do not have it.
"Winning" has similar effects; jealousy being one of them.
This is why there are many dimensions and layers to relationships. Expectations for each layer/dimension are different; and leads to disappointment when confused/assumed incorrectly.

Life Navigation Post 13: "Bringing others along"/Mentoring/Life Coaching/Alpha dog/Parenting share this concept of lifting up others. It may be a one-on-one, a family, or other group or culture that receives this benefit. An atmosphere where participants are receptive to learning is provided for via various teaching endeavors.
Academics provide such a safe learning environment.
Sports also provide a safe training environment for physical and character/integrity training. The benefits are proven as practitioners are "tested" in competition or environmental encounters. The reality is that if injury causing training was done; there wouldn't be any students left to train; or would care to join.
The danger is that sports trained participants have to be aware that the training is designed for safe competition in an controlled situation; and not an aggressive combat in an uncontrolled situation.
A little known dimension that is fundamental to martial art leadership is that a safe training environment for learning both the techniques, and the essential Character Building Aspects of the training process is provided.
As "aggressive" as the training appears; the techniques taught are not those of actual combat where injury is the goal. Injury can occur; but usually is not that severe. The energy of the punches is limited by the physics of the methods used. The throws are designed not to injure joints or body parts; the ability to safely "breakfall" out of the throw is provided for in the techniques. Even the setting is that of the participants knowing when they are supposed to expect danger/aggression. And when it will stop. Mobility for survival or multiple attack or power enhancement is not a fundamental principle as it is in street or combat techniques.
(A fundamental principle of not losing is "don't be there.") (Classical sword based Aikido does use these mobility principles because opponents are assumed to be sword wielding.)
Multidimensional living requires a multidimensional approach.
Going beyond yourself; requires going beyond yourself in preparation.

Life Navigation Post 14: Adding dimensions of thinking is part of the formulation of tactics or tactical thinking. Current events reveal plenty. Plus we can have a visceral response to the learning experience.
Studying advertisements is a glimpse into what is effective with only a split second to catch attention; and then a few seconds to give a sales pitch. The psychology behind these ventures is the best. Magazine photos are good "studys."
(Also note the breath rhythms that are utilized. Inhale/exhale/hold. Each has its own emotional/psychological energy.)
"Fake News" is the current rage/humorous term for effective advertising/propaganda. Because it works, is so effective, this is an excellent opportunity to observe current events as a tactical learning opportunity. Plus we can experience our own response.
Be astute as to motivation; topics chosen and why; and also the "status" of both creator and their opinion of the audience.

Life Navigation Post 15: "Zero sum gain" basically means that one person's gain produces another person's loss. There is a limited amount of resources available.
Alpha dog navigation includes the simultaneous interplay with people at different levels, and dimensions, and points of view. Interplay does not have to be "zero sum gain." Everyone can win; or everyone can lose. There does not have to be an "equality". Dimensions can also be rewarded differently.
Important is that everyone can perceive themselves as winners because we usually have one or two critical issues; and don't really care that much about issues not important to us.
The tactic for "popularity" is to reward each dimension in ways that are important to them.
(Pass out different flavors of ice cream so everyone is happy. Or be the "man for all seasons.")
The result is having the advantage of diversity to successfully navigate all life situations; with several options available.
Usually there are several right/appropriate answers.
The correct response is also "recipient dependent.."
(Not everyone eats meat; or sushi.)
The universe is endless.

Life Navigation Post 16: "Don't get played."
"Be a player; not a piece."
One reason to know as many of the various tactics and dimensions of engaging life is to be aware of when you are being "played." Including being distracted from personal goals, and even ideology. Many of the disguises as "doing the right thing" is an easy way to gain a person with zeal's support. Or an "emotional needy person's" collusion.
Having another person do the "dirty work" is also a ploy. The instigator usually is deemed innocent; the one being played takes all the blame, and consequences. There can even be a self esteem role created when obediently taking the consequences.
There also is the "jealousy factor" where acquaintances purposely draw a person away from their successful activities because they are afraid that success will lead to losing them as a friend.
This "pulling someone back" is one of the biggest dangers to people who are trying to rise above the "crowd."
"Friends" are not always friends.
There is a place for getting completely out of one environment, and starting over.

Life Navigation Post 17: "Family" defines a genetic relationship; and also defines relationships that emulate the "blood bonding" aspects of the "family." (Blood is thicker than water, so to speak.)
The "heart" aspect of the bonding is powerful. It is identity, motivating, security, and love.
There are implied expectations connected to this word which works both ways.
The use of the term can take acquaintances and common causes to deeper levels of commitment. It can be manipulative, a deception.
Misusing the assumed commitment to a "family" is a manipulation of the powerful "family identity." Life altering can be the mere statement of "you are family" or "I feel like you are my brother" or "you are a son to me", etc.
However actual "family commitment"/responsibilty/etc. in the future may not be intended.
1. We have to careful about how we use our statements and words.
2. How the statements are interpreted by the receiver in all dimensions is critical.
3. In our interactions, not applying more than is realistically expected to colloquial statements prevents future disappointments.
We often hear what we want to hear; or need to hear.

Life Navigation Post 18: I have worked with many people who were promised advanced positions, ownership of properties, and other desirable rewards as incentives for working/commitment beyond reasonable expectations. These people were not even qualified for the positions, or able to handle the financial obligations of maintaining the property. It appeared as "a dream too good to come true" and it was too good to come true.
There was a lot of free labor provided at the level in which they had tremendous expertise. However the dimensions required for the promises was not there.
The result was a waste of time; missing out on real opportunities; and the destruction of plans/dreams/hope made for the acquisition of the promised rewards.
It is important to understand that there are many dimensions and qualifications to life. We can be successful when we are involved in areas in which we have expertise. Knowing/understanding these things prevents tragedy.
"A man has to know his limitations." (Clint Eastwood in a "Dirty Harry" film.) Oh well.

Life Navigation Post 19: "Authority" and "Responsibility" need to be linked together.
When given the "responsibility", or being the person "responsible", it is vital to have the "authority" to implement the task. This insures that the efforts will be promoted in the way you desire.
Plus, you do not want to be responsible for the actions of others who infringe upon the task. Or responsible for other people's actions in any way that is not appropriate.
Reputation is at stake. You can be responsible for unwanted consequences of the actions of others.
Time and efforts are wasted.
Your credentials and personal liability are also involved.
Basically, do not be put in charge of something where you do not have the authority.
(When your name is on something: Beware of being "set-up" for failure; or credibility attacked. This is also purposely used to eliminate competition; distract; create busy work; or ruin reputations.)

Life Navigation Post 21: Dealing with a "Take it or leave it" option.
It is best to remove the 'fear element" from the decision process. Operating under fear of loss is the coercion power of this offer. Being a "winner," or the "winning mentality," makes the situation even worse. And, there are some issues that being a winner of is not a good thing, or idea.
Things to consider include:
Will this help me toward my goals?
Is there agreement with personal values that are cherished?
Are there legal and/or social consequences?
Can I "afford" this (in the many definitions of "afford?")
What about the time factor; instant gratification; value a year from now?
Goal planning is valuable asset to decision making. Goals not only clarify choices; but lead in the directions to where the correct decisions will be made.
These things take the coercive power out of "take it or leave it."
Plus, allow those "once in a lifetime opportunities" to be taken advantage of immediately, and without hesitation.
A "goal planning" curriculum video will soon be added to beinggifted.com

Life Navigation Post 22: Pre-plan/role play decisions that may have to be made in the future.
Use situations in the news, or that have occurred to others, as material to learn from via placing yourself in that situation.
When "split seconds count;" there is not time to "take a minute to think" about it.
Values, legal consequences, social ramifications, etc. can be considered while there is time to consider these things.
Also, later on, you can better live with the decision because it was well thought out in advance. Things don't always turn out like you would have them to.
Also having a Plan A,B,C routine allows a seamless series of responses. Life is not always win/lose; but a continuum of responses. Often just being able to survive.
When teaching children's classes this procedure became a huge fear reducing strategy for living. The empowerment mindset is that control is not always controlling results.
The only thing that can be controlled is "controlling one's personal response."
(What is tragedy is having to justify one's decisions because you made it. "Oh well" can obtain closure for a multitude of errors.)

Life Navigation Post 23: "Closure" vs. "Revenge" or "Unforgiveness."
Deciding whether it is "closure" or "revenge/justification" that is sought makes a big difference in whether various circumstances in life are going to continue being a part of your life.
There is only a limited amount of time in the day so decisions on how it is going to be spent is critical.
"Goals and opportunities" are often sacrificed for "revenge and justice."
This is part of the empowerment via bullying, intimidation, adversity video presentation: https://youtu.be/hxFWKaumuKA… (this is lengthy because it deals with several situations in the one presentation)
"If you stop to throw rocks at every barking dog; you will never arrive at your destination." Winston Churchhill.
The "pay back" nature of human beings is also one of the ways of manipulating people and/or getting them to waste their time/lives or prevent them from success. Jealous people use this a lot to pull someone back.
(When mentoring really talented people or those trying to make a success out of their lives, the jealousy of friends and/or siblings is one of the biggest factors in breaking away for success. Unfortunately sometimes parents too.)

Life Navigation Part 24: Being the "Person for all Seasons" ; "Comfortable in all Situations"; "Multi-Level and Multi-Dimensional" is one of the prerequisites for Multi-Lateral Success. However this is not the goal for everyone.
Being successful, and content in your particular "Domain" in life is usually what it is all about.
Also. one of the serious drawbacks in today's rapidly changing/technological dependent world is that certain domains of life cease to exist. Survival mandates change. The rationale that a change is required to survive is an effective means of closure; and allows moving on with a clear mind and/or conscience. To do more in the future first requires survival. Survival also may demand getting along. (Which gets back to the concept of being a "person for all seasons" or "multi dimensional.")
An answer appears to be multi-dimensional; and stay away from entirely closed and narrow mindedness. More now than ever Survival/Progress/Opportunity are dependent on the ability to receive and learn from all sources.
However, life also has to allow for areas of life that are more rigid to change and/or compromise. And this is usually where the "unresolveable conflicts" begin.
"Unresolveable" implies a handicap.
Limitations are therefore self-imposed.

Life Navigation Post 25: The "blame game" or "create a mutual enemy" works well, although temporarily.
Being on the receiving end is difficult because often you are trying to prove a negative; prove something you aren't; or didn't do.
Also, being the first one to speak is typically automatically believed as "more credentialed," or the "truth."
In a setting where "truth," "ethics," and "integrity" have no value; these tactics work extremely well. Especially when the object is to win at any cost, or consequence.
However, the law of "reap of what is sown" or "what goes around comes around" also applies. The "dishonesty" has unforeseen consequences which lead to destruction, lack of trust, worry about who will be next to be targeted (yourself) because there isn't friends or trusted relationships. Usually the concept/term "family" is applied to the fragile relationships to create an illusion of trust/bonding/mutual dependence.
The dilemma is that "untrustworthy" people can't be "trusted."
People that "destroy," will destroy.
Appropriately tag relationships. "Acquaintances" are more likely than "friendships." "Family" is entirely different than mutual relationships. Maintain appropriate expectations.
To navigate life successfully; all types of relationships are appropriate.

Life Navigation Post 26: Responsibility/Authority/Point of View are interconnected; and shape each other.
Therefore responses to a particular event vary; yet still may be correct dependent on where each particular person dwells in life. This flexibility in "correct" reflects the sayings: "walk a mile in my shoes"; "you don't understand"; "or "depends". And the spinning circle of the "yin/yang."
Rigidity is reflected in: strict "law"; "rules"; "mandatory compliance" and "play by the rule book." Something being "right"; as opposed to the nuances difference in being "correct." Or a "moral justification" vs. a "contemporary evaluation."
And "Responsibility/Authority/Point of View" are part of the nebulous cloud that prevents clarity in judging/evaluating actual cultural responses.

Criticism and judgement is best reserved until all the information is accessed.
Also a reason for the response:

And "Responsibility/Authority/Point of View" are part of the nebulous cloud that prevents clarity in judging/evaluating actual cultural responses.
This is not only for leaders, but everyday living.
Criticism and judgement is best reserved until all the information is accessed.
Also a reason for the response:
"Can't we all get along." (Rodney King)
Life Navigation Post 27: the "Power of the Unseen Power" is a traditional martial art tenet emphasizing "Continually Seeking" the depths of training or understanding.
1. The capabilities that fuel creative insight and inspiration are not seen or noticed; but the results are. Metaphysical understandings are typical. There are naturally gifted/talented who train to new heights. There are also those who understand the fundamentals/principles; and subsequently create the further depths and dimensions of performance.
2. There is a lack of tension; plus a refinement in the control and expertise obtained when not working at the limits of one's ability. "Unique Power" exists, have more to give, more depths to offer, or multiple dimensions to explore. "Plan A,B,C" backup security and flow of motion. There isn't time to take a minute to think, when split seconds count.
3. "Confidence" is different than "Predictability."
4. The opposite is: the "adrenaline rush of the wild and crazy" or the "thrill of riding on the edge."
Consequences are still accountable for when doing out-of-control behavior. Physical and social consequences can last a lifetime. (which is why it is a part of the martial art mindset.)
5. An important social result is that the respect for the dignity of others is created. Beware of the trap of demeaning others to lower their dignity; or raise yours.
Never Underestimate Another Person's "Unseen Power."

Life Navigation Post 28: There are many types of behavior collectively labeled "Love." There is a time and place for all types of "Love." Brotherly love, Parental, Respect, Erotic, Lust, Desire, Affection, Compassion, Adoration, etc. Pity is also considered love. As is various types of bonding and companionship.
Confusing them, exchanging definitions, expectations, responsibilities, and also acquiesce leads to unwanted consequences. Plus heartbreak and disappointment.
The ending of "sustaining relationships" in one type of love is often when expectations are confused and/or inappropriately transferred. Jealousy can also arise, and destroy when roles and expectations are confused.
Characteristics to include in defining Love and adding Dimensions to Love include patience, kindness, and raising the level of dignity of others.
Avoid jealousy, fault finding, self centered or possessive behavior. For some reason, although effective, name-calling and labeling is a two-edged sword. This also is one of the roots of bigotry.
"If you stop to throw rocks at every barking dog;
you will never arrive at your destination." (Winston Churchhill.)
"Peace is often better than being right."
"In the efforts to be right; we often sacrifice love one another."

Life Navigation Post 29: We can have the best of two worlds; and empowerment includes being able to dwell in several worlds at once. Cat's paws are an example. Extremely soft and sensitive to touch serves them well. So does the needle sharp claws.
However, there is also the realm of the metaphysical.
"Oneness" being a perfect example.
Often not realized is the protective limitations to "oneness." Recognizing the existence, knowledge of, and respect for other dimensions/concepts/things can be among the limitations in establishing a restricted involvement of "oneness." Bringing everything and anything into one's state of being is not mandatory. Protection of oneself physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually is healthy; and mandatory for survival.
This is personal, so are the dimensions in decisions, and the resultant actions or beliefs. Everyone's "oneness" is unique.

Life Navigation Post 30: There are times when literal survival, life or death, is a factor/consequence in decision making. Implications also include others.
The airline advise to passengers includes "FIRST, place the oxygen mask on yourself."
To bring "closure" to difficult literal survival decisions, "Oh well. I had to do it to survive" works well.
Inappropriate use of this method of closure can be a bad thing; and a bad habit; with bad consequences.
However, "walk a mile in my shoes" is always important to remember before making judgement; even about ourselves.

Life Navigation Post 31: Love and forgiveness are intertwined.
Life Navigation Post 32: One aspect of bringing "joy" to one's life is the discovery of "more." Even in the simplest moment there are greater depths of appreciation, or dimensions to explore. A closer look at a flower; the shapes created by shadows or forms; architecture and craftsmanship that surrounds us; personal expression and appearance; and etc. are sources of "joy."
Take the time/seize the moment.
Awesome is not always in magnitude.
It also resides in detail.
Look around. Or perhaps listen.

Life Navigation Post 33: Anti-bullying/intimidation responses that depend on other people/authorities resolving the problem usually don't work. Revenge is self-destructive; and often one of the clever manipulations by manipulators/alpha dogs to create self-destructing anger in another person/competitor.
Time to be involved; not really their responsibility or having the real authority to resolve; fear of backlash; or lack of desire to be involved with unpleasant issues are among the reasons authority figures don't desire to get involved. Laws created that aren't enforced are just legal hand-washing.
Re-framing the issue into one of tolerance and/or even empowerment is entirely self driven and controllable.
* The need to remain focused on one's goals is a justification for tolerance. And a "priority" driven life.
"If you stop to throw rocks at every barking dog; you will never arrive at your destination." Winston Churchhill.
* "Oh well" is a means of bringing closure that actually has the potential to work.
* For people loving, praying types: "Now that you brought yourself to my attention; I will pray for you" is an empowering and re-framing of the situation. It does not have to be physically declared to be effective. (Try it the next time someone beeps at you in traffic.)

Life Navigation Post 34: To achieve goals write down a plan chart:
* Start with the goal desired.
* Work backwards in a series of steps that are required to obtain the goal.
* Arrive at a "First Step."
* Accomplish the "First Step."
* Create a new "First Step."
* Adjust First Steps and subsequent steps as practical information is obtained.
(There will be a complete "First Step to Success" goal planning video completed in the future.)
