Therefore a holistic, empowering approach that is self-generated, and self-resolved is a good idea.
First, a story:
There was this person walking through the woods who fell into a deep pit not too far off of the beaten path.
Desperate attempts to climb up the vertical walls didn't help.
After three days of fruitless yelling and screaming, no one came to his assistance.
He was doomed. And frantic. And thinking he would die there.
Suddenly a voice called out. "Hey, anyone down there in this pit!"
Well the man in the pit screamed back. "Help me! Don't go away! I'm stuck in this pit. It's impossible to get out!"
Immediately there was a big crash as the man from above leaped into the deep pit, crash landed, and nearly knocked over the guy who was
trapped in the pit! Now they were both "trapped" in the pit.
"What are you crazy or something! Now we are both trapped in this pit! What are you, stupid or something!!??
The other man dusted himself off and said,
"Don't worry. I've been down here before."
There needs to be pre-planned responses to as many situations as possible. This allows for one's ethical, moral, social consequences, responsibilities, and legal ramifications to pre-determine a response. There is not time to take a minute to think when split seconds count. A philosopher, military tactician Sun Tsu cited: ""If you know yourself you will win most of the time. If you know your enemy you will win most of the time. If you know yourself and your enemy you will never be defeated."
Also, life is not about always winning; it is not about never losing. However, it is about never being defeated in your thoughts and mind. There are times when you lose. There are times when you retreat. There are also times when you have to do whatever it takes to survive. A loss is to be expected. It is not to be self defeating. It is about getting back up when knocked down. Dusting yourself off, and saying "No big deal, I've been here before." An attitude that empowers when in adversity, intimidation, or bullying is never defeated.
A "good times" or "always win" mentality can fall apart in a hurry. It also indicates interacting in a lower functioning area of endeavors of no real competition.
The goal is:
* To empower yourself in the losses.
* To empower yourself in the retreats.
* To empower yourself when you have to do whatever it takes to survive.
* Confidence, No Fear.
* Pre-plan responses so that as many considerations/consequences as possible can be considered.
* Resolve the conflict within oneself.
For this positive empowerment attitude, historical strategies and beliefs that stood the test of "time and trial" have proved themselves as good starting points. When I used to teach these strategies I would say that it is the historical techniques that worked for those being persecuted, martyred, going to the lion's den, or Colosseum death games that would be good to know: but of course we would never be in those situations. Times have changed. This is a serious video for a deadly serious topic.
The ability to turn all situations into a positive outcome, or at least be able to visualize a positive outcome is part of survival, and also success.
The format of this video is a "fireside chat." Watching me for an hour or so would not be a conducive to a serious listening experience. Oh well. The captions are for highlights.
Also, a breathing technique which uses visualization to change the perception of an "event," and allow closure, is a supplemental video clip. There is a sense of closure to all of the above techniques when certain perspectives are taken.
PREVENTION: Although "prevention" is not directly a part of this "dealing with it" video, the focus of the entire website is toward prevention.
The rules have changed. The solution has not.
We need to build up people from the inside; if we don't like what is on the outside.
There is a worldwide cultural problem in the swing toward the rising use of controlling intimidation/bullying/violence/anger.
Some is "hidden," but much is openly blatant to send a message of power/control. Some of it is just the "nature of the beast."
Some of it won't be going away.
However, most is taught consciously or subconsciously. There is power in intimidation and domination over others. Group participation multiplies the power. And it gets results. This power fills the need for a sense of power within one's being. When power replaces self-actualization and love as a culture, the insatiable violence dominates. If no other option for fulfilling one's need for "self power" is available or working, then the violent route can easily become a substitute path to follow. For some, everything else will be given up for just the feeling of power, even if fleeting. For others, just to belong/identify is sufficient. It is like living Halloween. This can become a consuming need, a black hole that needs to be filled.
The entire website focuses on "personal experiential" power/self -actualization. Often the intimidation/terroristic behavior is due to an attempt to fulfill something missing in one's life. This "hole" could be a lack of experiencing oneself/self image, payback for mistreatment, anger, identity with a power, need for recognition by somebody/something, attention getting, or even fear.
Two holistic used in this website deal with these issues. One of the holistic concepts used in this website is "Power/Control/Beauty." However this "Power" is not domination/other person directed; but the empowerment that comes from a sense of self-identity and personal power created from within. Performance feedback is usually required for successful confirmation of one's empowerment power. This is why the fundamentals are so important. We use the fundamentals in everyday activities. There are constant feedback opportunities. It is real because it works, can be experienced/felt.
The other holistic concept is Gifted Performance/Oneness/Love. Where there is love there isn't fear. There are many types of love, most of which remove "black holes of fears" from a life.
Even walking, picking something up, climbing stairs, are opportunities for the fundamentals of giftedness. The "personal experience" confirms a positive existence which can be felt. The creative process also fills the "voids" of life. Artistic expression can be in every aspect of life. (The movie"The Girl with the Pearl Earring" about Vermeer the painter opens with the "girl" artistically arranging slices of fruit on a plate before setting them on a table.) We have to be aware of what we are doing, or can do. Education plays a role here. Thus this website; notice the use of daily activities, and daily environment.
By definition, a powerless self image can't self-actualize. And obviously can't do gifted performance. Yet everyday we can perform with those fundamentals and receive the benefits of empowerment/power. We are powerful/empowered by nature. We need this for a healthy lifestyle. We have to be aware of what we are actually doing, or can be doing, self-empowerment wise everyday.
Hobbies and other outside activities are vital sources of feedback of the dynamics of gifted performance. Walking with the gifted bio-dynamics fulfills all the requirements of self-empowerment, oneness, and sense of beauty. So will a few stretches. Those few inhale breath stretches before going to sleep every night fulfill this role as well. Everything counts.

Connection of the artist to the instrument, connecting the music to the instrument, the band, and the audience into one "void/bubble/universe" of the artist's creation. The use of visualization and creativity techniques illustrate that:

This casual session was filmed while the guitarists were rehearsing on the back porch next door.

The "Industrial Revolution" and use of Firearms in Warfare eliminated the need for highly skilled archers and swordsmen who had the endurance to battle all day.
The arts and martial arts of these war cultures utilized the same bio-dynamics and metaphysics of excellence in performance. Although the finesse of techniques are still retained in the gifted performance of the arts; the all day, physical labor demands are no longer commonplace. And where they are, the arts usually aren't actively practiced so many of the physical bio-dynamic performance techniques that were once commonplace have been "lost."
One of the most common practices was the natural use of both inhale and exhale performance techniques. When endurance or extreme speed was no longer required, the use of both muscle groups was no longer in demand, or required. For example most people can no longer perform a 12-16 hour day of extreme physical labor, 7 days a week. Or hit a man sized target at 200 yards like the English archers did.

The bio-dynamics of all movement activities are basically the same. Study in one area is usually applicable to other areas. The body can move in only so many different ways. What triggers the movements and how they are actuated may vary considerably.
To the left is a simulated "attack" from behind; and a rapid turning movement to evade and meet the attacker. It is the same movement as a turning/pivoting movement in basketball, tennis, volleyball, dance. Even baseball's "jumping back to first base." In cleated/high traction footwear sports this change-of-direction turn is especially dangerous because of stress on the knees. Turning the knee first removes the stress.
The middle photo shows the knee leading the movement. As fast as the knee turns, the hips turn. As fast as the hips turn, the body turns. So extreme speed is possible. Note the hair flying outwards. This series is less than a second.
The body is relaxed, no muscle tension because this is a in-hale expansion movement; the same as the body's natural startle response movements. It is "light/floating" because it is. Typical muscle contraction movements are "grounded." A vertical axis of rotation is naturally created for speed and balance, and also the ability to connect movements together.

For example: "Rigid/upright/precise;" or "bendable;" or "loose/flowing;" or "disjointed/free"; "light/heavenly/unattached/free." This video is based on personal experience. I don't hear the beat. Doing repetitive movements is also a problem.
My feet used to feel like they were in concrete. Yet being a martial artist trained in details of advanced movement wouldn't seem like being a person unable to move dance-like. Well, there are two different realms/groups of muscle movement; and I was trained in the one that doesn't work for dance. This video introduces the other realm of movement; which is actually a natural realm of moving.
When my daughter was 4 yrs. old she was in dancing school and my wife (danced for 13 years) wanted to learn disco dancing. At a private lesson for me and my wife the guy said "Gary, hopeless, you don't hear the beat." Then proceeded to teach my wife the steps and it looked like "Saturday Night Fever." Oh well. Several other attempts at adult evening school really didn't help much. Oh well.
However, the good news for hope is that while discovering the void breath technique for movement in the martial arts my feet (actually knees first, then feet) would move by breath expansion and into a void. Discovery was that the energy between the beat is a void and moving with the void was possible for me.
So, now at least my feet move with the "beat;" a little while. Repetitive movements are still difficult. Oh well. Still don't know a lot of steps, but the dancing experience isn't so "painful."

Meditation is defined as the "listening" aspect of oneness in this website. The difference is that oneness can occur as a state of being or a relationship; but "listening" is an option. Also conversing, asking for something, making an appeal, is not listening. For this website the two way communication is called "praying," and not meditation. This is why this oneness is selective about the degree of oneness that is created with various entities. Some things are acknowledged as real only; and not approved of, or allowed input from. Setting boundaries is not isolation. Opening up completely to anything and everything completely is not a good idea. Listening to those sources that are acceptable is preferred, and respectful of the intrinsic value of our being. Meditation and Oneness are natural places for humans to be. This metaphysical aspect of life is built into our being as a state of living to go to; and/or a place to exist in. If so desired we can literally be living, and moving, and having our being in a constant unity. Not just a connection. A oneness that can be meditated with, listened to.
For example, while still in bed I do a deep void expansion inhale to open things up/oneness.
Then I pray for help and guidance for the day.
Then I meditate and just listen.

Beyond Centered Riding is Void Oneness Riding
Horses respond naturally to breath techniques. In fact, some horses are teaching the rider the "oneness" when you know what to look for.
Connective ability to ride the horse, and even stay on, are the same foundational bio-dynamics that are the basis for other gifted performance.
"Dressage" means "oneness." The desired "shapes/form" of both horse and rider are naturally formed when the proper energies and bio-dynamics of the rider are being applied. Placing the energy of the object being created into it for the viewer to experience is what puts the dimension of living energy into the artistic creation. For example, is the bent leaf about to spring back up or is the person inhaling or exhaling or holding/catching their breath? When creating art the input of inhaling gives more life energy, and catching/holding the breath creates attention and mystery (the Mona Lisa.) Often the lament is that "I didn't have a plan" or "I don't know what to do first."
This charting process includes the balancing of goals to insure that financial and social/family needs are considered.
A step-by-step progressive charting process begins with desired final goals or outcomes, works forward, and concludes with the "first step" toward obtaining those goals.
This was a self-published workbook created because I was spending too much time mentoring people on an individual basis. Presentations included one at Villanova University as part of a course for representatives from developing countries. Workbook then got worldwide distribution.
Highly motivated people found the information valuable. However those low motivated people that needed the life skills the most, usually weren't interested.
However, when a stereotypical low motivation high school student was asked why he wasn't even filling in the chart at all; he replied that "he had no goals."
When asked what type of car he wanted; detailed specifications of the exact car, color, wheels, and sound system were instantly declared.
"Well, it looks like you have a goal. Let's look at this car."
An estimated cost was given, and agreed upon.
When a monthly payment figure was given, he looked a bit surprised.
"Of course you want to drive it, right?
Nod.
"We need gas!"
Adding in gas and insurance gave us a monthly estimate.
He leaned back in his chair.
Then the question was "Do you want your own apartment?"
"Of course."
"Well, now it looks like we are into a total monthly budget of $XXXX;
and I assume you want to eat every day.
"Guess what, that's at least $XXXX an hour."
"Where were you planning to work? How much are they paying an hour?"
Silence but the wheels were turning in his head.
"Tell me something." "Do you have a "First Step?" (Hoping he had been somewhat paying attention.)
After a brief silence he looked at me straight in the eyes and said,
"I got to start studying."
I really would like to know what happened to that kid.

Archery is an extremely demanding physical and metaphysical activity. Equipment is hand held and unsupported. Physical power is required. The aiming process requires precision acquisition/adjustments while under the tension, and time limitations, of a full draw. Wind factors have to be overcome. Personal bio-dynamics are precisely and repeatably produced.
The requirement of metaphysical aspects of oneness/being in the zone is assumed.
The understanding and the ability to pick and choose which muscle and breathing cycles to use according to their inherent bio-dynamic characteristics is a huge advantage over trial and error. Maximum potential can be achieved for the varying circumstances presented in archery.
Modifications can occur while in the drawing/aiming process.
These video selections present the bio-dynamics of the two major muscle groups and the three aspects of a breath cycle. The applications of these muscle/breathing variables to archery performance are then presented as structural fundamentals. Being able to obtain physical feedback of the bio-dynamics affecting the equipment is made possible by substituting the finger for the bow string. Household items are used instead of a bow. (Can't dry fire bows anyway.) Of importance is that all the techniques and variables can be experienced. Correct technique can be mastered off the bow. Corrections/modifications to technique can be achieved because the physical feedback effects have been experienced/manipulated off of the bow. Trying to learn/experience/change variables while tensioning the bow in a draw is too difficult.
Although most people will want to by pass the "fundamentals videos" and go directly to the "application videos" that is okay. Knowledge of where you are going with the "fundamentals" will then have been obtained. The information is condensed, intense, and for most will be "first knowledge." Several viewings of the tapes will be necessary. As time and abilities progress, reviewing the videos will reveal another layer of information that can be obtained with the enlightened perspective and skills.

The video clips do not include shooting an actual bow because the bio-dynamics of the archery process are featured. This is essentially a "dry firing" technique for learning using the more manageable household items. In actual application, if the movement can not be accomplished without the bow; than it won't be able to be accomplished with the bow.
Holding a bow in front of a television or computer while trying to follow along with the video teachings would be awkward.
Several hundred learning repetitions would be muscle fatiguing, most likely impossible.
Using a finger to represent the bowstring while learning enables feedback of the torque and tension place on the bowstring to be felt.
Common household items are more manageable, and won't ruin the bow.

Archery is an extremely demanding physical and metaphysical activity. Equipment is hand held and unsupported. Physical power is required. The aiming process requires precision acquisition/adjustments while under the tension, and time limitations, of a full draw. Wind factors have to be overcome. Personal bio-dynamics are precisely and repeatably produced.
The requirement of metaphysical aspects of oneness/being in the zone is assumed.
The understanding and the ability to pick and choose which muscle and breathing cycles to use according to their inherent bio-dynamic characteristics is a huge advantage over trial and error. Maximum potential can be achieved for the varying circumstances presented in archery.
Modifications can occur while in the drawing/aiming process.
These video selections present the bio-dynamics of the two major muscle groups and the three aspects of a breath cycle. The applications of these muscle/breathing variables to archery performance are then presented as structural fundamentals. Being able to obtain physical feedback of the bio-dynamics affecting the equipment is made possible by substituting the finger for the bow string. Household items are used instead of a bow. (Can't dry fire bows anyway.) Of importance is that all the techniques and variables can be experienced. Correct technique can be mastered off the bow. Corrections/modifications to technique can be achieved because the physical feedback effects have been experienced/manipulated off of the bow. Trying to learn/experience/change variables while tensioning the bow in a draw is too difficult.
Although most people will want to by pass the "fundamentals videos" and go directly to the "application videos" that is okay. Knowledge of where you are going with the "fundamentals" will then have been obtained. The information is condensed, intense, and for most will be "first knowledge." Several viewings of the tapes will be necessary. As time and abilities progress, reviewing the videos will reveal another layer of information that can be obtained with the enlightened perspective and skills.

The video clips do not include shooting an actual bow because the bio-dynamics of the archery process are featured. This is essentially a "dry firing" technique for learning using the more manageable household items. In actual application, if the movement can not be accomplished without the bow; than it won't be able to be accomplished with the bow.
Holding a bow in front of a television or computer while trying to follow along with the video teachings would be awkward.
Several hundred learning repetitions would be muscle fatiguing, most likely impossible.
Using a finger to represent the bowstring while learning enables feedback of the torque and tension place on the bowstring to be felt.
Common household items are more manageable, and won't ruin the bow.

The breathing instructions are exactly the same as the wellness/healing video, and other videos. Other than a mention of a diet addition, the information is the same. Only a different focus, so additional information is given.
The expansion energy of the inhale produces relaxation, better circulation, and expansion of joints and body mass. A body image of vigor and connectivity helps romance along. The "oneness" techniques increase awareness and sensitivity, and also a bonding into a state of oneness.
Whether it is a slight touch, an embrace, or a dance; movements via inhale expansion are more expressive and connecting. All these factors produce wellness in general. And sexuality and reproductive health in particular. (Diet may be a factor so is mentioned, although not proven.)

The physical bio-dynamics for martial artists are the same bio-dynamics as for any other movement oriented activity. Balanced, rapid, powerful, connected movements that are also of low stress on joints are desired. As speed increases so does the chance of injury. Proper movement bio-dynamics are important to high speed maneuvers. The connective properties of movement are also important tactically. Of note is that personal attitude plays an important role in connectivity, and therefore affects actual performance.
The photo illustrates a turn to face an attack from behind. The rapid movement is balanced and controlled. A start/turn 180 degrees/stop in a second. No stress on the knee joints. Without the "stop," the motion would have continued through the now off balanced "attacker." "Continuation" to the next movement is instantaneous.
Note: "Unbalancing" was a property of the "connection." A "feint"' or "fake."
First, make a "void" connection; then leave it with the visualization energy of pulling the attacker into the "void" created when the movement began. This is accomplished with inhale expansion.

This presentation is the introduction of some Zen art principles to a contemporary modern artist. Although this highly regarded artist works in all mediums, the medium of oils on canvas is demonstrated. An exhibit of James Whistler's, of "Whistler's Mother" fame, use of a Japanese influence for a series of paintings illustrated a dramatic fusion in the same oil on canvas medium.
Featured will be the "art of the line," meditation/thought transfer of energy, repetitive duplication of energy and physical effects.
